LCSD is currently closed. All requests for services are being routed to Lubbock Deaf, INC.

The Board of Directors has decided in their board meeting held in November 2014 that the entity known as Lubbock Community Services for the Deaf, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, has financial ties that have developed throughout the years with Lester Shaver, a current Board member. To dissolve these financial agreements, the Board decided to allow another entity to be formed, Lubbock Deaf, INC., also to be formed as a non-profit organization, and all physical property, banking, and accounts receivable be transferred to to this new entity.

In February 2015, LCSD’s board met for the last time to dissolve LCSD and ensure a smooth transfer to Lubbock Deaf, INC. As of May 14, 2015, this process was complete, and all business transactions were officially under Lubbock Deaf, INC.

The building located at 2414 34th street was owned by Estates Trust, INC. An agreement was set between Lubbock Deaf, INC. and Estates Trust, INC. to allow the Deaf Community to use the building as needed until further notice. During the month of October 2015 we received a great amount of rain that caused over $75,000 worth of damage to the building. After negotiations with different investors and Estates Trust, INC. it was decided that the building would be put up for sale, allowing the Deaf to continue to use the building in it’s current capabilities as much as they could. In February 2016 the building located at 2414 34th St, Lubbock, Texas was vacated by Lubbock Deaf, and sold by Estates Trust, INC. The signage was allowed to stay as advertisement until the building is remodeled and re-inhabited.
